Over the summer, we traveled for a tennis tournament. At one facility, there was a lady whom I noticed working so hard to keep all the trash cans emptied. We thanked her verbally for the job she was doing, and then it happened to be that she was getting off of work at the same time as we were leaving for the day. I had a box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts in the car, which I carried over to her. (I know. "Krispy Kreme doughnuts" are mentioned in more than one of my blogs!) I am sure she at first thought I was crazy, and maybe still does. But I hope she was happy to know that someone noticed her.

I may just be the worst elf in the history of elfendom. During this Christmas season, I had the intent of dressing up like an elf to help open the door and carry packages at my local shipping depot. People are usually so stressfully scurrying to mail packages, and I thought it would be so nice to brighten their day a little. So, I found the cutest elf costumes for me and my daughter. And we wore them for all of ONE HOUR!
And I did not get my own packages mailed on time. Also, for the first time ever, I did not mail out the first Christmas card.
I did, however, have one of the most peaceful Christmas holidays I can ever remember. I truly am so thankful for Jesus and what that relationship with Him means. And I feel so blessed to have my family together and to have my warm home and a credit card that reads "Approved" when processed.
I am putting our elf outfits away, in hopes that they will be worn much more next year. If I fail again with logging elf hours, that's okay. As long as I can maintain a peaceful spirit.

I love leaving Christmas goodies for our sanitation workers, because I am not sure that most people would think of doing something for them. And I truly am thankful for their service. Especially the couple of times they have waited for me to run frantically down the hill in my robe to catch them!
Hint: Be sure to "double bag" your gift, if leaving it on your garbage can.

I sent a "Thank You" today to Shane's Rib Shack, but not for the food or service. Although, the extra friendly servers and huge and delicious BBQ salad could have certainly warranted it.
What I so wanted to convey thanks for was the sink placed right out in the dining area. While perhaps its original function is for post-meal washing, it was this compulsive handwasher's dream come true! How wonderful to make it even easier for people to do this simple thing that is most important in preventing the spread of germs.

For the longest, I only knew a man on a neighboring street as "The Walking Man." Just when I would be driving along, in a preoccupied state of tension, there he would be, waving his stick. He would always bring about an instant smile.
After many waves to "The Walking Man", and some light stalking to see where he lived, I planned a visit. Bearing candy one Valentine's Day, my daughter and I went to show our appreciation to this stranger. Appreciation for always brightening our day, no matter the mood of the moment.
We are now good friends with "Todd" and his wife. And his waving is still bringing me out of my stressful stupors.
The night before Halloween, my family did some reverse trick or treating. We showed up on some doorsteps with homemade cookies. Since we did wear our costumes, we evoked an initial reaction of panic. However, once they realized they did not have to scramble to find candy to give us, they were quite pleased.
